NCB arrests Rhea Chakraborty`s brother Showik, to be produced in court on Saturday, say sources

In a fresh development related to the mysterious death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, a five-member team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) probing the drug angle raided Rhea Chakraborty`s residence on Friday (September 4) morning.

  • According to people in NCB headquarters, Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik was arrested on Friday. He will not be allowed to go home as the process is underway in Mumbai. He will be produced in court on September 5 (Saturday). The papers are being prepared and they will be served arrest memos in two hours.

  • According to sources, Showik Chakraborty is not likely to be arrested today. He will be questioned till 6 pm reportedly. 

    Samuel Miranda, late actor Sushant SIngh Rajput's close aide, will also not be arrested today, as per sources. 

    Summons will be issued to both for further questioning by the NCB.

  • Sushant Singh Rajput death case is under perusal by the medical board and the report will be only submitted to CBI in due course of time: (Prof) Dr Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Dept at AIIMS & Chairman of Medical board formed in  Sushant Singh Rajput death case told ANI.

  • Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik met drug peddler Basit Parihar at a football club in Mumbai. According to sources, Basit visited Showik's house on a regular basis and had been in touch with him since last two years. He was known to Showik's family.

  • No drug seized from Showik's house, however, a few diaries have been seized by the NCB. Showik expressed to go with the NCB for probe, sources said.

    NCB conducted raids after receiving inputs of presence of drugs at Showik's house. According to sources.

    Showik was indulged in drug dealing until 2 days back. He consumes drug on daily basis, as per sources.

  • NCB siezes digital evidence from Rhea Chakraborty's residence. Brother Showik taken to NCB office for questioning, although he is not arrested yet.

  • According to reports, summons issued to both Showik and Miranda to join the investigation.
     

  • NCB quizzes Samuel Miranda about Zaid and Basit. He will be asked about their meetings and drug conspiracy. 

    He will be asked about Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik. His chats with the latter and what is the connection between them and the drugs conspiracy in this case.

Also, according to sources, NCB is also conducting a parallel raid at Samuel Miranda's house, a close aide of Sushant Singh Rajput. 


Meanwhile, the CBI investigation in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case is in full swing with the interrogation of close associates and doctors, who treated the late actor over anxiety and mental health issues taking place round-the-clock every day. 


Besides CBI investigating the death case of Sushant, who was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are parallelly probing the drugs conspiracy and the money laundering charges.
