They were almost about bump into each other at Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding reception at St Regis here. But an awkward situation was averted beautifully by people around them.

Yes, you read that right. Katrina had attended the event along with sister Isabelle and filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar while Ranbir was accompanied by Ayan Mukerji, Nita and Anant Ambani.

According to a report in India.com, the two, who were present at the same venue smartly prevented an awkward moment from happening.

“The two came into the reception one after the other. However, they were surrounded by their own coterie. Karan Johar, who had come in earlier with Sidharth Malhotra caught Katrina’s attention and she didn’t spare a minute before heading their way and meeting them. Just while they were exchanging pleasantries, with Isabelle and Ali in tow, talking about how phenomenally well Tiger Zinda Hai is doing, RK walked into them,” a source explained.

There was no way RK could have avoided exchanging greetings with Karan with whom he had delivered a blockbuster like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil last year.

Just when he was about to greet Karan, Ayan stepped in.

“As if on cue, Ayan came to the rescue and whisked Ranbir away to avoid the situation from getting awkward,” the source added.

Though Ranbir and Katrina never really admitted to being in love when they were together, it was apparent that the two were dating. They had even reportedly moved in together but for reasons best known to them, the relationship ended.

For the unversed, Ranbir and Katrina have worked in films such as Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rajneeti and Jagga Jasoos.
