New Delhi: The Committee of Allowances appointed by Finance Ministry to review the allowances under 7th pay commission is likley to sub,it its report on February 20. The recommendations on allowances are expected to be effective from April 1, said the central government employees body National Council JCM.

The Allowances Committee was set up in July 2016 on the direction of the Cabinet to look into the provision of allowances other than dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. Initially the committee was given a four-month time frame to come out with recommendations, which was later extended till February 22, 2017.


"Reports suggests that the Allowance Committee may submit its report on 20th February 2017 and it will be notified with effect from 1 April 2017. Federation sources told that It is unacceptable and we will fight it out until the revised allowances implemented with effect from 1.1.2016", said blog post of central government employees. 


The government employees added that if allowances are not paid with retrospective effect from the date of notification of 7th Pay Commisison ie 25th July 2016, it will result in a huge loss for the employees.
