Google Photos to end free storage on June 1: Here’s what you can do next: In Pics

The days of unlimited free cloud storage on Google Photos are soon going to end from June 1. From next month onwards, you will get only 15GB of cloud storage for free, which means that you won’t be able to store all your memories in the form of photos and videos without worrying about the storage limits.

If you’re using Google Photos to store photos and videos up to 15 GB then you won’t have to pay a single dime to the American tech giant. However, you’ll have to pay for storing photos and videos beyond the 15GB cap on their Google drive.

Google is providing a facility for users to store all their new photos and videos after they exhaust the 15 GB limit. However, one may note that the service is paid.

Google will charge $1.99 per month to store new photos in cloud storage if you exhaust the 15GB free limit, as part of its Google one subscription. The annual subscription of Google One is priced at $19.99 per year (roughly around Rs 1470.)

Owners of Google Pixel 2 or later smartphones of the Pixel series can continue enjoying the unlimited free "high quality" photo backups on Google Photos. Mainly, Pixel 2, 3, 4 and 5 owners are likely to get the benefits of the free photo storage offering.

You can easily check how much Google Photos storage you are left with by using a newly launched tool by Google. Users can use the storage management tool to estimate how much storage is left and free up some space by deleting a few photos and videos.
