World’s Largest Swimming Pool Spans 16 Football Fields, Filled With Ocean Water

For those who are afraid of swimming in rivers or the sea, swimming pools usually offer a safer alternative. However, the world's largest swimming pool in Chile is so immense that it looks like a vast river. Standing by the pool, all you can see as far as the eye can reach is water.

Located in Algarrobo, Chile, the San Alfonso del Mar Resort's pool is so massive that it holds a place in the Guiness World Records

The pool holds 66 million gallons of water at any given time. A computer-operated suction and filtration system keeps the pool clean by drawing water from the ocean.

This swimming pool covers over 80 acres and stretches more than 1 kilometer in length. Its size is equivalent to 16 football fields, and it is also incredibly deep, with the deepest part reaching 115 feet.

To ensure safety, the pool is equipped with lifeguards and boats around its perimeter to assist in case of emergencies.

Only guests staying at the resort can use this enormous pool. Its size is so vast that visitors are often seen boating rather than swimming.

The construction of this pool cost 16 billion rupees and was completed in December 2006. For a brief period, it was open to the public.
