Chinese startup China Car Custom backed by smartphone giant Xiaomi has unveiled an electric sports car named SC01 which is priced at only $42,000; making it the cheapest electric sportscar ever made. The SC01 weighs about 1.3 tons and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

China Car Custom has unveiled its first sports car called the SC01, and has also announced its starting price less than 300,000 yuan ($42,000).

The CCC SC01 weighs about 1.3 tonnes and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, driven by dual electric motors with a peak power of 320 kW.

The SC01 is 4,085 millimeters long, 1,820 millimeters wide, 1,162 millimeters high and has a wheelbase of 2,500 millimeters.

The SC01 is a two-seat electric sports car taking its design cues from multiple sportscars including Ferrari F8, with the SC in its model name standing for "sports car", according to the company's founder Feng Xiaotong.

The model's dual electric motors can produce up to 435 horsepower and has an NEDC range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge.
