Cyclone Jawad likely to hit Andhra Pradesh, Odisha coast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for the formation of Cyclone Jawad, which is likely to cross the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha by the morning of December 4. The cyclone is expected to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in almost all the districts of south Bengal. As per IANS, the cyclonic storm is likely to enter India through the South Andaman Sea before making a landfall between Odisha and Andhra coast on the morning of December 4.

PM Modi chairs high level meeting in the wake of Cyclone Jawad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (December 2) reviewed the preparedness to deal with the aftermath of the likely formation of Cyclone Jawad. As per the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Modi directed officials to take necessary measures to ensure that people are safely evacuated and the maintenance of all essential services such as power, telecommunications, health, drinking water etc.

33 more NDRF teams to be deployed amid Cyclone Jawad threat
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director-General Atul Karwal said 33 more teams are being deployed at the required places to deal with the aftermath of the impending cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. "A total of 29 teams have already been deployed at the required places. Now a total of 33 teams are also being deployed to deal with the situation. All the people have been taken to safer places," the DG-NDRF told ANI.

Andhra Pradesh on alert
The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday sounded an alert in view of the cyclone Jawad threat. As per IMD, the cyclonic storm is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal on December 3. The storm is likely to intensify further and reach near north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts around December 4 morning.

ECoR cancels 95 trains till December 4
The East Coast Railway cancelled operation of 95 trains for three days from Thursday in the wake of cyclone Jawad threat.
ECoR in a statement said that as a precautionary measure for the safety of passengers, 95 mail and express trains originating from different places and passing through the region have been cancelled from December 2-4.
