Indian Railways New Rule: Having faced unprecedented crisis situations during Covid-19, Maha Kumbh surge and festive rush, the Indian Railways has planned a major revamp of its facilities at 76 stations with high footfall to ensure hassle-free travel for passengers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has shared key measures being undertaken by the public transporter to make train journeys comfortable & safe during rush hours. Under the new rules, waitlisted passengers won't get direct entry at platforms but will first enter the newly created waiting area for regulated entry. The Railways has also developed new designs for wider foot-over-bridges (FOBs), measuring 12 metres and 6 metres, which will be installed across stations to ease crowd flow, according to the minister.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the progress of Kavach, focusing on faster deployment and the use of advanced technologies to improve safety and operational efficiency.

The Indian Raiways has rolled out many trains in the past 12 years like Vistadome coaches, Humsafar Express, Vande Bharat Express, Vande Bharat Sleeper, Tejas Express, and Gatiman Express. 

New Train Ticket Refund Rules 2026: In a major push to modernise rail travel, Indian Railways is rolling out sweeping reforms, including updated ticket cancellation guidelines that reshape refund rules based on timing. Announced by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the move aims to boost transparency, improve operations, and enhance passenger experience across India’s vast railway network. The overhaul follows Indian Railways blocking over 3 crore suspicious IRCTC accounts. This move is widely seen as a crackdown on agents and bots that often grab tickets within minutes, especially under the Tatkal scheme.
