The Indian Navy conducted a large scale tri-service exercise at sea off Goa and Karwar from November 17-23, the Navy said on Monday. Naval assets such as Kolkata-class destroyers and landing ships participated in the exercise. Apart from this, fleet support ship and ship-borne helicopters, Marcos and other force levels from all the three maritime commands of the Navy joined the exercise, news agency PTI reported. The exercise also saw the participation of amphibious troops, special forces, engineers along with support elements from the Army, PTI reported. Major activities conducted during this exercise included amphibious landing operations, air-landed operations. Helicopter-borne insertion of special forces from sea, combat free fall by the tri-service special forces teams culminating in tactical follow-on operations on land was also conducted during the exercise. The exercise was termed Ex Madad 2018 by the Navy. Images from the exercise were shared by the Indian Navy on Twitter.
