Upon Landing In Varanasi, PM Modi Goes Straight To Late-Night Inspection Of City's New Road Project; In Pics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi late on Thursday after a busy day in Gujarat. He went to check out the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara marg. Before that, Prime Minister Modi landed at Varanasi airport and was welcomed by CM Yogi Adityanath.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Varanasi from February 23. He went to check out the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara marg, a road project that involved coordination among various ministries, including Railways and Defense, to improve the quality of life for the people of Varanasi. The project cost Rs 360 crore and it cut down the travel time from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to the airport from 75 minutes to 45 minutes.

The bridge was inaugurated recently. It is of great help toaround 5 lakh people living around southern part, BHU, BLW, etc. who want to go towards airport, Lucknow, Azamgarh and Ghazipur. Similarly it is reducing distance from Lahartara to Kachahri from 30 mins to 15 mins.

He will also launch developmental projects worth Rs 13167.07 crore in Purvanchal during his visit. The Prime Minister will start his day with a program at Swatantra Bhawan of BHU in the morning. Then, he will pay a visit to the birthplace of Saint Shiromani Ravidas, offer his respects, and speak to the devotees.

After that, the PM will go to Banas Kashi Sankul (Amul Dairy) in Karkhianv Agro Park, launch 23 projects worth Rs 10972.00 crore and start 12 projects worth Rs 2195.07 crore on the park grounds. The PM will also address a large public gathering from here, where many farmers will attend.

The Prime Minister will launch developmental projects worth Rs 13167.07 crore in Purvanchal during his visit including the Sigra Sports Stadium Phase 1 and District Rifle Shooting Range, a step towards improving the sports infrastructure in the city.  PM Modi will launch several urban development projects in Varanasi, including an urban waste-to-charcoal plant by NTPC in Ramna, an upgrade of the water supply network in the Sis-Varuna area and online effluent monitoring and SCADA automation of STP-sewerage pumping stations.

To support Varanasi’s renowned textile sector, the Prime Minister will start the construction of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Varanasi. The Prime Minister will also start the construction of several projects for the beautification of Varanasi, including rejuvenation projects of ponds and redevelopment of parks and a project for the design and development of a 3-D urban digital map and database. PM Modi  will also launch several projects related to tourism and spiritual tourism in Varanasi.
