Swarna Ratham procession held in Tirumala, devotees attend in large numbers

Tirumala: The procession of Swarna Ratham was held in Tirumala on the day of Vaikuntha Ekadasi between 9am and 11am. The entire hills reverberated with the chanting of Govinda Namas. TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy, EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, and others took part in this procession.

Devotees gather in large numbers to attend the procession and catch a glimpse of the richly decorated golden chariot as it proceeds through the street.

The chariot festival known as Rathotsavam proclaims the distinctiveness of Brahmotsavam. It is believed and said that those who witness the Lord seated on the Chariot during Rathotsavam will not be reborn.

The golden chariot is pulled by women devotees including women employees of TTD with religious fervour. The processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi seated on the chariot took a celestial ride along the four-mada streets to bless the devotees who converged in the galleries.

According to the ICCT, this annual festival is a unique opportunity for sponsors to avail the recognition, honor and blessings during the day of Ratha Vahana Seva. These special privilege will be received by all sponsors every year during Brahmotsavam celebrations.
