Tata Sons acquires Air India, makes winning bid of Rs 18,000 crore

Centre on Friday (October 8) announced that Tata Sons has won the bid to acquire Air India. The salt-to-software conglomerate won the bid to acquire debt-laden state-run Air India offering Rs 18,000 crore for acquiring 100 per cent shareholding.
Tata Sons defeated SpiceJet promoter to bag Air India and their bid of Rs 18,000 crore comprises taking over 15,300 crores of debt and paying the rest in cash.
Navjot Singh Sidhu sits on hunger strike over Lakhimpur Kheri violence
Demanding arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish Mishra, Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday (October 8) started a hunger strike at late journalist Raman Kashyap's house in Lakhimpur who died in the violence on October 3.
Slamming the BJP-led UP government, the Congress leader said that 'nothing is greater than law and justice'.
Mumbai Indians out of IPL 2021 playoffs race
Mumbai Indians were knocked out of IPL 2021 when Sunrisers Hyderabad crossed the 65-run mark while chasing the 236-run target on Friday (October 8) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The Rohit Sharma-led team failed to make the IPL playoffs for the first time since 2018.
Due to a better run-rate than the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders have qualified for the knock-out stage.

Facebook, Instagram face second outage in a week
Facebook and Instagram on Saturday (October 9) faced the second outage in a week after their services were hit for several uses for a couple of hours.
Earlier on Monday, a "faulty configuration change" had led to a nearly six-hour global outage.
Aryan Khan denied bail in drugs case
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was on Friday (October 8) denied bail by Mumbai's Esplanade court in a case related to the seizure of drugs following a raid at a party on a cruise ship.
Aryan Khan was sent to the Arthur Road prison along with five other men who were arrested in the case too, while two women accused including Munmun Dhamecha were sent to Byculla women's prison.
