Weather Update: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Delhi-NCR Today- Check Full Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall today in West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. Strong surface winds, with speeds of 20-30 km per hour, are expected throughout the day in the national capital.
IMD issues Yellow Alert in Delhi-NCR
Delhi is under a yellow alert today. The IMD forecasts a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain and thundershowers. The monsoon trough is expected to approach Delhi-NCR, likely causing rainfall for the next three days.
Downpours expected in Southern Region
Downpours are also forecasted in parts of South India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, until August 10.
Heavy rainfall likely in Maharashtra
Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra & Kutch are also expected to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall during the week, with heavy rainfall likely in Maharashtra. According to the meteorological department, rain is expected today in the Central Maharashtra Ghat regions, including the Konkan and other areas.
Himachal Cloudburst
For Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in Una, Kangra, and Sirmaur districts for Wednesday. A yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places is in effect across the state until August 9.
Kerala Landslides
In Kerala, heavy rainfall continues following massive landslides in Wayanad. The IMD has issued a yellow alert in six districts: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod.
Thuderstorms in Northeast India
East and Northeast India are likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, throughout the week, according to the IMD.
