US Visa Rejected

Mohammed Shami found himself in trouble again after his US visa got rejected due to his existing police record on domestic violence and adultery charges. It was only when BCCI stepped in, that the India national cricket team bowler got the clearance.

Abused after Pakistan match

After India lost to Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup 2021, the only Muslim player in the Indian team, Mohammed Shami, faced a barrage of abuse and communal hatred online. He was termed a "bloody Pakistani in Team India" and asked to "Go to Pakistan". However, it was heartening that a section of former cricketers and public personalities stood by him and expressed their solidarity.
