DDA set to announce new housing scheme soon

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is likely to launch a new housing scheme with more than 13,000 flats on offer in January 2017.

The urban body approved the housing scheme proposal on Friday in a meeting chaired by Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung.

Some reports in July, quoting Arun Goel, Vice Chairman of DDA, had spoken about the impending housing scheme involving houses that were surrendered or cancelled in 2014 scheme, but had not given any timeframe.

As per sources in DDA, the housing scheme was to be announced in December, but due to banks' involvement in demonetisation drive, the scheme is likely to be announced in January.

The scheme will have 13,148 flats in areas like Sarita Vihar, Jasola, Dwarka, Pitampura, Sukhdev Vihar, Narela, Rohini, Jahangirpuri, Loknayakpuram, Dilshad Garden, Paschim Vihar, Bindapur and Mukherjee Nagar.

Sources added that applicants are likely to have a maximum of seven choices of locations while registering for the scheme.

There will be 11,671 one-bedroom flats, which remained unsold due to cancellation or surrendering of booking.

Some 79 HIG flats will be on offer between  Rs 41.62 lakh and Rs 1.4 crore.

Though DDA has not increased the price of 11,544 flats, from what was offered in the 2014 housing scheme, the registration fee of MIG and HIG flats is expected to be increased to Rs 2 lakh.

This time, the applicants will be able to register through both online and offline process.

The apartments will be sold on freehold basis. And as per the scheme to be launched, DDA is likely to do away the stringent clause that deterred buyers to resell the house before the five-year lock-in period.
