Vishwakarma day 2017: Significance and Puja timings

The day is celebrated each year to worship Lord Biswakarma, the divine architect of the universe. Falling on the last day of the Bengali month of Bhadra, the day is celebrated in a way where devotees organise pujas at their workplace, decorate their offices with flowers and the like.
The elephant is Lord Vishwakarma's vehicle and is also worshipped on this day. The deity of Lord Vishwakarma is installed in various decorative pandals wherein, the major puja is conducted. Once the ceremony is over, Prasad is distributed amongst all the devotees.
One of the most interesting facts about this festival is that the people who own factories or even auto drivers and all those who are skilled workers celebrate the day by worshipping their tools. Reason? Well, it is the tools which enable them to earn a living and make them skilful. The factory owners and labourers unite and enjoy meals together.
To ensure the overall prosperity of business, Yagya puja is also performed by some people.
