Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi once again courted controversy on Thursday when he refused to accept a scarf being offered by a Muslim cleric during his day-long Sadbhavana fast being held at Navsari town in Vadodara district. TV visuals showed a group of people filing past the Chief Minister, while most where only greeting him with folded hands, one Muslim cleric brought a scarf as gift, but Modi draped it only on his hand.
Under the Sadbhavana Mission which is aimed at propagating peace and harmony, Modi is observing a series of fasts across all districts of the state. Modi, during his three-day fast in Ahmedabad last month, had not worn a Muslim prayer cap offered by a Maulana.
