Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed snubs Bangladesh bowling coach offer
Javed had ended a successful term at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April.
New Delhi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed has rejected Bangladesh Cricket Board's bowling coach offer on Monday.
Javed, 43, has informed the BCB of his decision via email, reports bdnews24.com. BCB’s cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan has confirmed the report and said, Javed was not their only option.
“Aaqib has informed us that he is not going to come. We are not too worried about it. He was not our only option. We also have plans B, C, etc. We will now hold talks with the others,” Akram said.
“The truth is that the job becomes difficult for both sides if we name [a favourite]. You will know as soon as we finalise something,” he added.
Akram had earlier said that BCB had set their sights on four bowlers – Sri Lanka’s Champaka Ramanayake and Chaminda Vaas, Javed and India’s Venkatesh Prasad.
Javed had ended a successful term at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April.
Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Heath Streak, who has helped Bangladesh become one of the most dangerous bowling units, will not renew his contract with the BCB. He joined as Bangladesh's coaching coach in April 2014.
On Sunday, BCB President Nazmul Hassan said they sent a proposal to the 43-year-old Pakistani, . Former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed had been approached by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for bowling coach of Bangladesh. This proposal has come as soon as Heath Streak decided not to renew his contract that ended on May 2016.
