Younis and Misbah have been pioneers and institution in batting for Pakistan. The duo mastered batting in Tests and ODIs to earn accolades from all corners of the cricket world.

In the T20 format Younis led Pakistan to their only World T20 title in 2009, while Misbah has also captained the national T20 team with both players being still active in this format.

Misbah was seen plying his trade in the Bangladesh Premier League recently to mainly stay fit for Pakistan's next Test series.

But does the icon tag make any difference to these two stalwarts who have achieved so much in the game?

The iconic players list includes big names such as Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Shane Watson.

Nothing to take away from these two Pakistani legends but on the current stage the five iconic players are better suited to T20 cricket than the duo.

Yes the glitz of private league will get fans rolling in the UAE and the iconic players in the list serve better purpose and attraction.

Kevin Pietersen may not play for England anymore due to conflict of interest, but he is still dangerous in this format. Gayle has been one of the best T20 batsman in the history of the game and is in superb form given his brilliant innings in the BPL too.

Malik's rise in ODIs and T20 has been phenomenal and he is Pakistan's star batsman in the present day squad. Current Pakistani T20 skipper Afridi deserves his status, given he will likely lead them in the 2016 World Cup. Shane Watson's role in the Big Bash League alongside his form in the IPL over the years makes him a strong contender too.

It is best for the interest of the game that these two gentlemen enjoy their cricket in the PSL rather than creating discomfort in reaction to the snub.
