New Delhi: Faced with severe manpower crunch, the CBI on Friday demanded from the Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh to provide some officials from paramilitary forces to meet the requirement.
Singh, who visited the newly-built CBI headquarters today, held a detailed interaction with Director A P Singh and other senior officials of the agency.
During the interaction with the Minister, the officials are understood to have raised issues which are affecting the agency`s investigation work.
The Director also sought his intervention for upgrading the Central Forensic Science Laboratory as number of sensitive and complex crime cases are being handled by the agency, CBI sources said. The officials said forensic evidence being very crucial in solving these cases and making them legally sound, a strong forensic laboratory was a necessary requirement.
The agency officials asked the Minister to see the possibility of modernisation of the CBI under the police modernisation funds allocated by the Centre, they said. The Minister has assured the officials every possible help from his side. PTI
