Confirming the news, bowling coach Dimitri Mascarenhas said they would assess Boult for the next couple of days, revealing that he is on track to be fit for the final Test.

Earlier, Boult failed to bowl in this weekend's day-night tour match against a Western Australia XI in Perth.

New Zealand are currently trailing 1-0 in the series and they have to win the third Test of the three-match series in Adelaide, starting from November 27 in order to level the series.
