Pranav Dhanawade: After praise from all corners, Mumbai teenager gets MCA scholarship for five years
The 15-year-old achieved this incredible feat in Bhandari Trophy, an Under-16 inter-school tournament, at Union Cricket Academy ground in Kalyan.
Mumbai: A day after he stunned the cricket fraternity with his epic 1009-run knock, Mumbai youngster Pranav Dhanawade secured a monthly scholarship for five years from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
In a press release, MCA said, "Hon'ble President Shri Sharad Pawar, on behalf of the Mumbai Cricket Association, has announced a scholarship of Rs.10,000 per month to Mr. Pranav Dhanawade for scoring a World Record 1009 runs in a single innings."
The wonder kid made his entire state and the country proud by becoming the first batsman in cricket history to notch-up a four-figure innings yesterday.
"The said scholarship will be paid for a period of 5 years commencing from January 2016 to December 2021. The Association will monitor the cricketing and educational activities of Mr. Pranav Dhanawade for the said period," the release added.
Dhanawade on Tuesday entered history books, as he smashed 1009 runs in a single innings, making him the first batsman to do so in the history of the game.
The 15-year-old achieved this incredible feat in Bhandari Trophy, an Under-16 inter-school tournament, at Union Cricket Academy ground in Kalyan.
Dhanawade was unbeaten on 1009* when his team finally declared on 1465.
Son of an auto-rickshaw driver, Pranav amassed 870 runs from 59 sixes and 129 fours.
On Monday, he remained unbeaten on 652 thereby breaking the record of AEJ Collins who scored an unbeaten 628 in a club match in England in 1899.
