The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived today for a weeklong visit to India and Bhutan.
New Delhi: Batting great Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday met visiting Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Mumbai. The owner of hundred hundreds discussed cricket and other sports during their meeting at Oval Maidan, where they were present for a charity event.
After the meeting, Tendulkar said that he was pleasantly surprised to know that Prince Williams follows cricket.
"It was nice to know that he (Prince William) follows cricket. We discussed T20 Finals and Tennis," Tendulkar was quoted as saying by ANI.
England lost the West Indies in the final of 2016 ICC World Twenty20 at Eden Gardens last Sunday.
The 42-year-old legend also hailed the couple's humility.
"They made us feel so comfortable and were very humble and simple," he said.
The charity event was also graced by former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived today for a weeklong visit to India and Bhutan, their second major trip representing the British crown and their first royal tour in almost two years.
Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton began their first engagement in India by laying a wreath at a memorial Sunday at Mumbai's iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where 31 victims of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks were killed.
During their trip, William and Kate will hold meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conservation groups, and will visit the Taj Mahal.
The royal couple will also visit India's neighbor Bhutan at the invitation of the Bhutanese king.
