New Delhi: The Centre on Friday hinted taking action against warring MLAs and ministers in Arunachal Pradesh, many of whom were allegedly not taking part in day-to-day official works, saying "dislocation in governance" was not acceptable at all. "We are very unhappy with the way the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, specially the Congress Legislature Party divided causing a considerable amount of dislocation in governance... this is not acceptable," Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters here when asked about the recent political development in the north-eastern state.
The home minister said he had taken up the issue with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamling and asked him to resolve the issue and restore normalcy in the government.
"I have told the chief minister that this is not acceptable. Governance must be brought back on rails. Ministers not attending cabinet meetings, MLAs camping in Delhi, the legislature not meeting or not transacting any business has caused us concern. But I have raised it with Mr Gamling and I have requested him to bring governance back on rails," he said. Asked whether the Arunachal Pradesh leadership change is on the card, the home minister said "that I can`t answer...I can`t talk you how these will be resolved at the party level."
The rift between two groups of the ruling Congress in Arunachal Pradesh came up over change of leadership. The issue got a new twist on Tuesday when a leader of the state Congress alleged that a minister was "kidnapped" by unknown persons.
