Akram believes Yuvi is a massive match-winner in the T20 format and should bat higher up the order in the absence of Virat Kohli.

“Experience matters a lot. Yuvraj Singh is a massive match-winner in this format. He will continue to play a big part for the Indian squad,” Wasim wrote in the Times of India.

The Kolkata Knight Riders' bowling coach feels Team India director Ravi Shastri possesses a shrewd cricket brain and will help the left-hander to settle down in the side after his return.

“With Virat resting, I would like to see Yuvraj bat higher up. The left-hander will gain confidence by being out in the middle. Ravi Shastri has a shrewd cricket brain and he knows how to manage players. When a senior player makes a comeback it is important to nurse him through the early days. They will take time to re-adjust to the environment, so the team management has a vital role to play,” Akram further added.

The Punjab batsman will be under focus against Dinesh Chandimal's side, as the Indians look to gain some valuable match practice ahead of the Asia Cup and WorldT20.

In the recently concluded Australia tour, the 34-year-old did not get an opportunity to bat in the first two matches.

Despite the initial struggle in the third match, Yuvraj delivered two lusty blows in the final over to turn the course of the match in India's favour.
