Puducherry: The Department of Agriculture has postponed the annual flower, fruit and vegetable festival as the botanical garden, the venue of the fete, has been ravaged by the cyclone.
Agriculture Minister M Chandirakasu told reporters here today that usually the festival would be held in the middle of February every year. Because of the Thane cyclone and its devastation the postponement was necessary, he said. He said the annual flower festival scheduled to be held for a week from January 6 in Yanam an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh had also been cancelled and all the saplings and other agricultural implements sought to be displayed in the festival were being disposed.
