Patna: Noted footballer and Arjuna awardee C Prasad died in a hospital in Delhi today following an ailment.

Prasad (70) is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters, Bihar Football Association said in a statement here.


Prasad had received the Arjuna award in 1971.


On the same year he had captained India in an International football tournament in Malaysia and in Pesta Sukam soccer in Singapore, the statement said.


Starting his career with Patna Football Club, Prasad later shifted to Kolkata and played for Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting and East Bengal.


Bihar Football Association organised a condolence meeting for the noted footballer, while Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain and President Prasanjit Mehta paid him tributes.
