New Delhi: A Nepalese national, who has been declared a proclaimed offender in two cases, has been arrested here for allegedly dealing with over 800 stolen vehicles, including several luxury ones, police said today.
Ganga Bander Bhandhari was arrested from east Delhi after police received specific information about his presence. Bhandhari, now a film maker and also involved in producing serials for television channels, is also allegedly involved in a fake currency racket, they said. Till now, Bhandari has purchased over 800 stolen vehicles from various gangs of thieves, police said.
While purchasing the vehicles, he used to give 80 per cent original currency and 20 per cent fake currency, police said. Bhandari, who was working as a waiter in a hotel in Vasant Kunj in 1995, was arrested in connection with two cases and was declared a proclaimed offender.
They said the accused has links with over 27 autolifter gangs in the capital.
