Srinagar: Ten militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits have been arrested by security forces in different operations in Kashmir Valley, police said on Thursday.
Police along with 42 Rashtriya Rifles busted two modules of LeT outfit operating in south Kashmir yesterday. Five militants were arrested in this connection, a police spokesman said.
Giving details, he said police arrested Sabzar Ahmad Sheikh in connection with an attack on a ruling National Conference block president in Tral area of Pulwama district last month.
"During questioning, the accused revealed that he along with Rafiq Ahmad Bhat, Parvaiz Ahmad Wani and Shahid Nabi Sheikh were affiliated with LeT outfit," the spokesman said.
On his tip off, raids were conducted and the three militants were also nabbed. In another case, police arrested a militant Shabir Ahmad, who was involved in an attack near Bus Stand in Anantnag town in October, the spokesman said.
Police also busted a Hizbul Mujahideen module yesterday in Tral area and arrested four suspects who were involved in threatening the recently elected village representatives and setting ablaze an office of local cable TV operator, the spokesman said.
Another Pakistan-trained militant of Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested by security forces in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
