Rs 26,485 crore Plan approved for Haryana
The Planning Commission approved a plan size of Rs 26,485 crore for Haryana for the year 2012-13, an increase of 30 percent from the previous fiscal.
New Delhi: The Planning Commission on Monday approved a plan size of Rs 26,485 crore for Haryana for the year 2012-13, an increase of 30 percent from the previous fiscal.
The plan size was finalised here in a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda. "Creation of investor friendly environment has helped the state in accelerating growth rate and also in improving both social and physical infrastructure," Ahluwalia said.
However, he said low sex ratio in the state has been one of the critical area and many steps have been taken to improve it. Ahluwalia said the Commission is in the final stage of drafting the 12th Plan and would welcome suggestions from the state government for improving implementation of central schemes, particularly those aimed at inclusive development.
He also said that health and education were being given priority in the 12th Plan and efforts will be made to encourage more private sector participation in development of infrastructure because of resource constraint.
Hooda said the annual plan 2012-13 will give priority to education (11.79 percent), transport (5.53 percent) and energy (5.12 percent).
"In terms of increase in outlay for 2012-13 over 2011-12, the maximum increase has been in the sectors of science, technology, forestry and wild life and environment (101 percent),education (48 percent), general economic services (41 percent) and decentralised planning (27 percent)," he said.
Hooda added that the state economy gained strength in several dimensions during the 11th Plan and is all set to move on a trajectory of faster, sustainable and more inclusive growth during the 12th Plan.
The state would further focus on broad-based and significant improvements in health outcomes, universal access to school, improved standards of education, including skill development and improvement of basic amenities like water, sanitation, electricity, roads, housing, he said.
At the same time, the vulnerable sections, namely, the SCs, BCs, minorities, women and children would continue to receive special attention, Hooda said.
Agreeing with Ahluwalia on declining sex ratio in the state, the chief minister said his government was concerned about the issue and during 2012-13 spending on social sector has been planned at about 56 percent.
