Amritsar: Amid tight security, the re-polling at a booth here was conducted on Thursday which recorded 69 per cent voter turnout, election officials said.
The booth number 76, where re-polling took place, falls under the Amritsar East constituency which is witnessing a contest between Congress rebel candidate Simerpreet Kaur Bhatia (Independent), Sunil Dutti (Cong) and BJP`s Navjot Kaur, wife of Amritsar sitting MP Navjot Singh Sidhu.

672, out of the total 974 votes, were polled at the polling station, the officials said, adding polling remained peaceful barring stray incidents.
During the poll day on January 30, a technical snag appeared in the EVM whereupon BJP candidate smelled foul play and raised the demand for re-poll. None of the candidates raised objection on re-polling, hence the Election commission ordered a re-poll.
Meanwhile, a BJP activist was canecharged by police when he allegedly tried to enter the booth forcibly. PTI
