Narsingh earned his ticket for the Rio Olympics by clinching a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas last year in 74kg division freestyle wrestling.

According to the rules, the one winning the quota represents the country at Olympics.

Sushil did not participate in that event due to a shoulder injury.

According to a report on NDTV, the two-time Olympic medalist has now written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a meeting with him.

Not just that. Sushil has also written to the sports ministry, asking for its intervention.

"While WFI asked the Sports Ministry to take a final decision, the Ministry in turn has refused to interfere in the Federation's affairs and asked it to take a call," a source said.

The Wrestling Federation of India is likely to meet on Tuesday to break the deadlock, which is threatening to snowball into a massive furore.
