New Delhi: World No. 1 Novak Djokovic brushed aside Japanese sensation Kei Nishikori in straight sets at the Australian open quarter-finals on Tuesday.

The Serbian who is the defending champion of the Australian Open will now face in-form Swiss legend Roger Federer in the last four.


Federer earlier dispatched Tomas Berdych in straight sets to continue his fine run.



Djokovic defeated the 17-time Grand Slam winner in the finals of Wimbledon, US Open and the World ATP Finals last year. He will now be raring to go and beat Federer once again.


After his match against Nishikori, Djokovic stated that he has played against Federer 44 times and it is always a challenge. He also added that Federer is a great champion and that he has a lot of respect for the Swiss legend.


“I’ve played Roger 44 times. It’s always a challenge. He’s a great champion. I have a lot of respect for him,” said Djokovic. Watch the on-court video of Novak Djokovic after his match against Nishikori.



Novak Djokovic is into his 29th Grand Slam semi-final and his sixth at the Australian Open.
