Encouraged by its success in securing the corporate sector's participation in restoration of Qutab Minar, the Archaeological Survey of India has now begun talks with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited for a similar plan it has drawn up for the historic Red Fort. "We have taken up the matter with MTNL. Talks are going on," says the ASI Director-General, Ms Komal Anand, hoping that an agreement would be signed soon. Conceding that finance is a major factor coming in the way of plans for restoration, preservation and beautification of the Red Fort, Ms Anand says the ASI urgently needs to create a corpus of Rs 10 crores for this purpose.
