Tata Steel selects IBM India as strategic outsourcing partner
As part of its business strategy to outsource non-core activities, steel major Tata Steel will outsource its extensive information technology (IT) systems to global it major IBM India.

to outsource non-core activities, steel major Tata Steel will
outsource its extensive information technology (IT) systems
to global it major IBM India.
Under the agreement, IBM would take responsibility for
maintaining Tata Steel's IT infrastructure, including managing
and operating their data centre, local area network services
and technical support, IBM India Ltd said in a statement in New Delhi.
This alliance with IBM is in line with our business strategy to outsource non-core activities with the clear objective of adding economic value to our business, J J Irani, managing director, Tata Steel said. Tata Steel is seeking to improve its service levels, utilise global expertise and obtain access to world class tools and methodologies to enable it to utilise it to meet its business goals.
IBM would help Tata Steel manage technological obsolescence through periodically refreshing it assets and would prove the expertise to help Tata Steel cope with the growing complexity of it, the release added.
