  • India have defeated Australia by 13 runs, avoiding a series clean sweep. This victory has ensured a strong comeback for the Indians in this long series.

The game changed when Australia lost two wickets in two balls - first Thakur removed Abbott on the final ball of the 47th over and then on the very first ball of the 48th over, debutant Natarajan picked his second, dismissing the well-set Agar. That was the final nail in the coffin and Bumrah was given the leverage, having to defend 16 runs in the final over. He did so with aplomb, trapping Zampa in front on the third ball of the final over. Australia: 289 (49.3 Overs)

Australia, still, emerge 2-1 victorious in the series.

  • Very good 45th and 46th overs for India. Bumrah picks a wicket and leaks just 6 runs in that over. Natarajan in his final spell now, bowls those yorkers and gives away just four runs. 29 needed from 24 balls. Australia: 274/7 (46 Overs)

  • OUT!! HUGE WICKET!! Jasprit Bumrah has removed the well-set Glenn Maxwell for 59. He cleans Maxwell up with a scorching yorker. Is that the game ? Certainly looks like it. Cometh the hour, Cometh the man - Bumrah is here! 33 needed from 30 balls. Australia: 270/7 (45 Overs)

  • Agar and Maxwell sre stitching a crucial tth wicket partnership here, which is keeping them in the game. Kuldeep Yadav finishes with decent figures of 10-0-57-1, some of the shine of it is taken by Maxwell's six against him in the final over. Bumrah in his third spell from the other end. Australia need 57 from 42. Australia: 246/6 (43 Overs)

  • It seems like it's Maxwell versus the Indians at the moment. One more wicket and the game will be in the visitors kitty. Natarajan is into the attack now, being brought in to nail some yorkers and get Maxwell before he starts belting everyone. A thick inside edge goes for four, however, as Agar gets lucky on one of those infamous yorkers from Natarajan. Australia: 227/6 (40 Overs)

  • OUT!! RUN-OUT!! Alex Carrey is run-out for 38. Off the bowling of Jadeja, Carey sweeped the ball and tried to go for a quick single which was never there. The ball goes to the square leg region where Virat Kohli sent an accurate throw back to KL Rahul, who did the rest. Australia: 211/6 (38 Overs)

  • Glenn Maxwell, has started to hit it big now. He hits Ravindra Jadeja for back to back sixes, one of which goes right outside the ground. Good three overs for Australia with 29 runs coming from it. They need more overs like it to make something out of this game. Australia: 197/5 (36 Overs)

  • Glenn Maxwell is the new man in. The pacers have been brought back by Kohli to grab another wicket here. Bumrah and Natarajan are operating the bowling. Natarajan gives away just 2 runs in his 6th over. Australia: 168/5 (33 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Debutant Cameron Green is gone for 21! Kuldeep Yadav takes the breakthrough. It was a fuller ball on the leg side and Green went for the sweep. However, he doesn't time it well enough and Jadeja takes a brilliant catch at backward square. Australia: 159/5 (31 Overs)

  • Debutant Camron Green and Alex Carey are launching a fine counter-attack for Australia here. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are back operating things from the two ends. Australia are slightly behind in the chase and are looking to take this as deep as possible. Australia: 145/4 (29 Overs)

  • OUT!! HUGE WICKET!! Aaron Finch is gone for 75, Ravindra Jadeja provides the crucial breakthrough. Shikhar Dhawan in the deep almost spilled it again but in the end he manages to hold on and Finch's run of good luck is done for the day. Finch wanted to hit it down the ground for a maximum but the catch is completed at long-on. Australia: 133/4 (26 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Moises Henriques is dismissed by Shardul Thakur. It was a pull shot that went straight to Shikhar Dhawan at midwicket. Thakur has his second and he's pumped up. Australia: 118/3 (23 Overs)

  • India are being left to rue their missed chances against Finch. The Australian skipper was dropped earlier by Shikhar Dhawanand then a run-out chance went begging. He is now belting the Indian spinners who have no tricks in the box to trouble him. Moises Henriques has aslo started timing them now. Australia: 98/2 (20 Overs)

  • Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are now operating things in the middle and trying to bowl some quick overs. Aussie skipper Aaron Finch, however, is looking in brilliant touch -  continuing on his good form in the series. He hits a four off Kuldeep and then a six against Jadeja over deep square-leg. He completes his half-century in some style. Australia: 93/2 (18 Overs)

  • Moises Henriques is the new man in for Australia, promoted up the order. Kuldeep Yadav is into the attack and is pitching the right areas. The duo of Finch and Henriques and trying to lay a solid foundation at the moment and seem pretty content in rotating the strike. Australia: 72/2 (15 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! HUGE WICKET!! Steve Smith is gone!! Shardul Thakur takes the wicket, caught behind. The ball was going down the leg side and it would have been a wide but Smith tries to shuffle it and the ball takes a thick edge, straight into KL Rahul's hands. A very soft dismissal and Smith, the back to back century maker will be very disappointed. India: 64/2 (12 Overs)

  • Australia are walking on the edge here or shall we say Finch is. Finch is getting very lucky as he has edged the ball several times up until this point but either the ball has run away for four or it fell just short of the fielder. Sahrdul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav are now into the attack. Australia: 51/1 (10 Overs)

  • Well well well!! Shikhar Dhawan drops Aussie skipper Aaron Finch at slips off the bowling off Bumrah and how costly will this prove to be ? It was a sitter at the first slip and Dhawan makes a mess of it. To add insult to injury, the next ball goes for four off the pads. In the next over from Natarajan, a run-out chance goes begging. Australia: 44/1 (8 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! T Natarajan has his first international wicket. And it's the big wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, who knocks one onto his own stumps. What a dream this is turning out for him. Brilliant guy with a brilliant story. The debutant is having a good time. India: 25/1 (6 Overs)

  • Good contest brewing up in the middle. In the fourth over, Finch hits another pull, this time for four. While Bumrah beats Labuschagne's bat for the first time in the series with two well-pitched out swingers. Australia: 18/0 (4 Overs)

  • Good competitive start from both the sides. Bumrah bowls a tight first over and only 2 runs come from that. The next over is bowled by India's debutant Thangarasu Natarajan - the bolwer who won hearts in IPL 2020. Although he bowls a good first over, he bowls one short and Aaron Finch dispatches a pull for six - welcoming him to the international scene. Australia: 9/0 (2 Overs)

  • Aaron Finch, Marnus Labuschagne will open the Australian innings against India's Jasprit Bumrah. Australia: 0/0 (0 Overs)

  • Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja's late heroics have taken India to a very competitive total of 302/5. 23 runs come from the final two. 86 runs came from the final 5 overs which has helped India to reach a healthy total. This is also the record sixth wicket partnership for India against Australia (150 runs). Pandya finished at 92* (off 76 balls) while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 66 (off 50 balls). India: 302/5 (50 Overs)

  • Here come the big hits now. The last three overs have yielded 17, 17 and 19 runs respectively. Jadeja, who was poor at the start, has now hit his CSK teammate Josh Hazlewood for two sizes in the 47th over. Then in the 48th over from Abbott, Jadeja scores three consecutive fours and then a six - India are back in the game now. India: 279/5 (48 Overs)

  • The runs have started to come now but not as much as India would have anticipated. Pandya hits a four through covers on the final ball of the 45th over. In the next one from Abbott, Pandya scores two fours and a six for a total of 17 from that over. Pandya is now at 75 off 66 balls. India: 243/5 (46 Overs)

  • Hardik Pandya has completed his half-century. A very fine display from him amidst a tough scenario. His 50 comes from 55 balls and now he would look to up the ante. Jadeja, meanwhile, cuts one to third man for four against Henriques. India: 216/5 (44 Overs)

  • While Pandya is closing in on another half-century, Jadeja is now at 18 off 31 balls. While India need all the big hits right now, they have only managed 10 runs in the past two overs. India: 209/5 (43 Overs)

  • Jadeja is still struggling and he's not even picking up singles at the moment. He has consumed 21 balls for the return of just 11 runs. Pandya, meanwhile, scored a four in the 39th from Abbott with a pull and then he sweeps Maxwell through square for four. India: 192/5 (40 Overs)

  • Jadeja is loitering at 8 off 15 balls at the moment and has failed in his efforts to find the gaps. Pandya also can't fully free his arms as there are no batsman after him and it's upto him to take this deep. Maxwell gives just 3 in runs in the 38th over. India: 176/5 (38 Overs)

  • Ravindra Jadeja is the new man in. India are on the backfoot at the moment and it's Josh Hazlewood who's done the damage in his second spell. Jadeja is failing to time the ball and It's upon the in-form Hardik Pandya to take India to a solid total.  Agar has completed a brilliant spell : 10-0-44-2. India: 167/5 (36 Overs)

  • OUT!! HUGE WICKET!! Virat Kohli is dismissed by Josh Hazlewood for the third consecutive time in the series. In his second spell, Hazlewood has come in with a plan. He is looking even more dangerous now. He bowled one in that channel outside off and the ball just kisses the edge of Kohli's bat and goes into Carey's gloves. The original decision was not out and strangely, Hazlewood didn't even appeal for it. After Carey's loud appeals, Finch goes for the review which shows just a very faint nick. India: 155/5 (33 Overs)

  • Pandya and Kohli are doing well to rotate the strike and are not trying to go for the big hits at the moment. Josh Hazlewood has been brought into his second spell and is looking even better than before. Aagar meanwhile is continuing from the other end and has already completed his eighth over. India: 149/4 (31 Overs)

  • Hardik Pandya is the new man in. Virat Kohli completes his 60th half-century but doesn't celebrate - he knows he has a huge job ahead of him. Zampa and Agar are operating and quickly finishing their overs, giving no time to Pandya to settle. India: 139/4 (29 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Another one bites the dust. KL Rahul is out Lbw to Agar, who has his second of the day. A similar dismissal like that of Gill earlier but this was just a poor shot. The ball was very full to try a sweep and the umpire raises the finger. And India have wasted another review. India: 125/4 (26 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Shreyas Iyer is dismissed by Adam Zampa for 19. Iyer tried to free his hands and wanted to drive through covers but ends up handing a straight catch to Labuschagne at backward point. India: 114/3 (23 Overs)

  • Nothing out of the box from India, Iyer and Kohli are just sticking to the plan - they are negotiating Zampa safely while Iyer hits a four towards square leg to get things going. India: 107/2 (21 Overs)

  • Shreyas Iyer is the new batsman in. Much better from Australia. Leggie Adam Zampa is into the attack now and he gives away just 3 runs in his first. Cameroon Green alos makes a strong comeback with a tight over - India only manage a single from that. India: 88/2 (18 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Shubman Gill is out Lbw to Ashton Agar. Gill tried to sweep the left-arm orthodox spinner, who was bowling around the stumps, but is trapped on the pads. With Kohli's permission he goes for the review, but the original decision of OUT is retained. Gill made 33 off 39 balls. India: 84/2 (16 Overs)

  • On the first ball of the 13th over, Virat Kohli completes 12,000 runs in ODI cricket - becoming just the 6th player to reach the landmark figure. He is also the fastest to reach the mark - reaching the milestone in just his 242nd innings (251st ODI) - beating Sachin Tendulkar's record. India: 77/1 (14 Overs)

  • Shubman Gill has started to swing it now. He is in phenomenal touch - continuing on his good form of IPL 2020. Gill scores two fours in Green's second over - who's not having the debut he imagined.  The left-arm spin of Ashton Agar doesn't make much difference as 9 come from his first. India: 68/1 (12 Overs)

  • The duo of Gill and Kohli are trying to lay a solid foundation. In the very first over of his ODI career from Cameron Green, Kohli hits back to back fours on the leg side - welcoming him to the big stage. Abbott gives away just a single in the next. India: 49/1 (10 Overs)

  • The Indian fans had their hearts in their mouths for a moment when Gill top-edged one but fortunately the ball flew away for six. In the next over, Kohli starts off with a breathtaking straight drive against Abbott. India: 40/1 (8 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Shikhar Dhawan is removed just for 16 by Sean Abbott in the latter's first over. It was a good length delivery and Dhawan timed it to perfection while coming down the track - straight into the hands of Ashton Agar at covers. Very soft dismissal. India: 26/1 (6 Overs)

  • Much better from the Indian duo. They have started expressing themselves now. Dhawan hits a cracking four off Hazlewood in the third over to get things going and then 9 runs come from Maxwell's second. India: 18/0 (4 Overs)

  • Good start from Josh Hazlewood - he makes full use of the seaming conditions and bowls a maiden to Shikhar Dhawan, who is beaten on multiple occasions. Gill and Dhawan both open their accounts in the next over from Glenn Maxwell. India: 4/0 (2 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill will open the Indian innings against Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood. India: 0/0 (0 Overs)

  • Australia playing XI: Aaron Finch (capt), Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Cameron Green, Moises Henriques, Alex Carey (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Sean Abbott, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

India have defeated Australia by 13 runs in this third and final ODI at Manuka Oval.

The series thus ends 2-1 in Australia's favor.

Earlier, India had won the toss and opted to bat first. India posted a competitive 302/5 on the board.

India have already lost the series after Australia comprehensively defeated them in the first two games and now in this dead rubber, they have nothing but pride to play for. They would be hoping that a new ground and new surroundings will turnaround their fortunes – the first two games were both played at the SCG.

Australia have been in red-hot form with the bat, scoring 374/6 and 389/4 in the two games played thus far with talisman Steve Smith making back to back hundreds, at a strike-rate of around 160.

Every single Aussie player has been amongst the runs. Glenn Maxwell, who managed just 108 runs in all of IPL 2020, has scored two rapid-fire half centuries – justifying his billing as the best finisher in the game right now.

The Indian bowlers have taken a combined 10 wickets from the two matches with the likes of Bumrah, Shami, and Chahal all looking sub-par - being taken to the cleaners by the Aussie batsmen.

India have been handed some breathing space as David Warner suffered a groin injury in the last game while Aussie pace spearhead Pat Cummins has also been rested for the remainder of the white-ball series.

With the T20I’s and the much awaited Test series still to come, the Indians would be seeking to build some much needed momentum in this game.

We expect at least a few changes to the Indian lineup for this one – the infusion of fresh blood can certainly lift those dropped shoulders.
