The cyclone landfall process has begun near Alibaug which is about 50 km away from Mumbai city, the coastal areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat have been put on high alert.

  • Pune: Over 20 trees were uprooted near Pimpri-Chinchwad due to strong winds and rainfall. The uprooted trees have blocked many roads and damaged several cars parked on the roads.

  • People are facing economic hardship of unimaginable proportions because of coronavirus pandemic. I appeal to the Centre to transfer Rs 10,000 each as one-time aid to migrant labourers including people in unorganized sector.   • As many as 390 people residing in Alibaug and nearby coastal areas have been evacuated and put up at a makeshift shelter home. Arrangements of food and water has been made, they will be a shifted back to their homes once the effect of the cyclone passes.   

  • India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places in Goa for Wednesday. It has already received 127 mm of rains, as of 7.30 am Wednesday morning.

  • As of 08:30 am on June 3, 'Severe Cyclone' Nisarga lay centred over eastcentral Arabian Sea near lat. 17.6°n and long. 72.3°e :
    * 130 km south-southwest of Alibagh.
    * 175 km south-southwest of Mumbai.
    * 400 km south-southwest of Surat (Gujarat).

  • Cyclone Nisarga has intensified further, eye diameter has decreased to about 65 km in the past hour. Wind speed has increased from 85-95 kmph to 90-100 kmph, gusting to 110 mph: Government of India (ANI)

  • Mumbai Police tweets: Section 144 (CrPC) has been promulgated in the city from 00:00 hours, June 3rd till 12:00 hours, June 4th. Refrain from venturing out to coast-beaches, promenade, parks and other similar places along the coastline.

  • In the wake of Cyclone Nisarga, a total of 19 flights which include 11 departures & 8 arrivals will be operating on June 3 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. The flights will be operated by AirAsia India, Air India, IndiGo, GoAir & SpiceJet.

  • Operations at the Mumbai airport, which has been handling 50 domestic flights daily since May 25, are likely to be significantly affected on Wednesday due to the cyclone.

New Delhi: The cyclone Nisarga landfall process has begun near Alibaug which is about 50 km away from Mumbai city, as the cyclonic cycle lays centered over eastcentral Arabian Sea near LAT. 18.1°N and Long. 72.8°E lies very close to Raigad coast. It's about 60 KM south of Alibagh, 110 KM south of Mumbai, 340 KM south of Surat (Gujarat).

In Maharashtra, at least 20 teams of the National Disaster Response Force and four teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in different coastal areas while five teams have been kept on standby in the wake of the impending cyclone.


Gujarat government has evacuated over 78,000 people from four districts located near the coastline and deployed 19 teams of NDRF and SDRF. Around 13 teams of the NDRF and six teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at different locations, five more teams of the NDRF will reportedly arrive soon.
