COVID-19: Kerala records single case in 24 hours, state moving towards coronavirus-free zone

The number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 13,387 out of which 11,201 are active cases and as many as 1,748 people have been cured and discharged and one has migrated, said Ministry of Health data on Friday morning. The cases saw a jump by 1007 and 23 deaths were reported in last 24 hours. The recovery rate in India saw its highest spike on Friday with 260 people getting recovered in the last 24 hours.

  • Regular visa, e-visa or stay stipulation, of such foreign nationals who have been stranded in India because of the spread of COVID-19 in many parts of the world and also due to travel restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities and whose visas have expired or would be expiring during the period from February 1 (Midnight) to May 3 (Midnight), would be extended till midnight of May 3 on 'GRATIS' basis, after making online application by the foreigner: MHA

  • A 46-year-old man, Himangshu Debnath, a resident of North 24 Parganas was arrested by the Cyber Cell of Kolkata Police for sharing a video from Gujarat and terming it as a video from Metiabruz near Kolkata in West Bengal. The video was from some clashes that had erupted recently.

  • The Maharashtra government has decided to give a slight relaxation in the rural areas to farmers from April 20 amid lockdown. The relaxation will not apply in hotspots and affected districts. The districts which do not have coronavirus cases will be given relaxation.

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy was tested for coronavirus COVID-19 with the Rapid Testing Kit that can show the result in just under ten minutes. He tested negative. The state government has imported one lakh Rapid Testing Kits from South Korea.

     

  • Since April 30, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has processed 12,923 refund applications involving claims worth Rs 5575 crore.

  • A family member of an MEA officer posted abroad has died due to coronavirus.

  • A total 14 new positive cases were reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday taking the total number to 328. Out of 328 positive cases, 281 are active, 42 have recovered and 5 have died. 59205 persons are under observation. 

  • In Karnataka, despite District Commissioner's warning against community prayers or gathering people violated lock down guidelines. A mass prayer was held in the mosque on Friday in the town of Savanur village of Haveri district in Karnataka. 30 people of a community participated in Friday prayers and had to face the brunt of act with police resorting to lathi charge for violating the guidelines.

  • Only one case in Kerala on Friday. The situation improving day by day and Kerala is moving gradually towards coronavirus-free zone. As of today, the active cases are 138 and 255 people have recovered.

  • Total 66 new cases on Friday in Telangana and overall positive cases till now is 562. The state recorded no new deaths on Friday.

  • In Tamil Nadu, 56 new cases emerged on Friday (a considerable spike, given that last three days' figures, were 31, 38 and 25). Total positive cases reach 1,323, discharged cases 283. Total cases in Chennai reach 228.

  • Coronavirus outbreak took place in 25 out of 33 districts of Gujarat. With 106 new cases of coronavirus positive in the state, total cases reach 1,035. A total of 39 deaths have been recorded and 74 patients recovered.

  • Coronavirus-infected cases cross 100 in Mumbai's Dharavi. 15 new cases in 24 hours. Total cases in Dharavi reach 101 along with 10 deaths.

Maharashtra remained the worst affected state with COVID-19 positive cases rising to 3,202. There have been 286 new cases in Maharashtra, including 177 new cases in Mumbai, during the last 24 hours. There have been 7 deaths in Maharashtra during the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 194. In Maharashtra today, 5 patients were discharged after recovering. So far, 300 patients have been cured and discharged in Maharashtra.


The COVID-19 infection has affected around 185 countries around the world and as per Johns Hopkins University latest data there are 2,153,620 confirmed cases recorded with 143,844 deaths.
