Chatra Lok Sabha Constituency, is one of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the eastern state of Jharkhand and cast its vote in the 2019 election on April 29.

Chatra registered 64.84 per cent voter turnout in 2019, a gain of 10.47 per cent. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1422805 while the total voter turnout is 922532. While in 2014, the constituency registered 54.37 per cent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 1311722 while the total voter's turnout was 713217.


Arjun Kumar of Communist Party of India, Nageshwar Ganjhu of Bahujan Samaj Party, Manoj Kumar Yadav of Indian National Congress, Sunil Kumar Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party and Subhash Prasad Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 from Chatra Lok Sabha Constituency of Jharkhand. 



Votings for Lok Sabha election happened in 4 phases in Jharkhand – April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19 and the counting will be held on May 23.

Chatra constituency covers six assembly segments – Chatra, Simaria, Latehar, Panki, Palamu and Manika. Other than Panki, all the other 5 constituencies are reserved for the members of Scheduled Castes.


In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Sunil Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – won by getting a huge margin of over 1.78 lakh votes. He had defeated Dhiraj Sahu of the Indian National Congress (INC). Singh had secured 295862 votes while Sahu got 117836 votes.
