Katy Perry `under fire` for Pepsi advert

Katy Perry has reportedly come under fire from members of various consumer advocacy groups for her Pepsi advert which promotes her new album.

Washington: Katy Perry has reportedly come under fire from members of various consumer advocacy groups for her Pepsi advert which promotes her new album.
Campaigners from six different organisations, including the Center for Science in the Public Interest and the California Center for Public Health Advocacy , have posted a full-page ad in Variety, which features an open letter addressed to the 28-year-old singer, Contactmusic reported.
The letter to the `Roar` hitmaker said that her soda promotion commercial is sending a wrong message to her fans that Pepsi would made them as cool as her, and not worry about health consequences. Perry, who doesn`t have an endorsement contract with Pepsi, has been asked to turn her back on the brand in the letter and has been told not to advocate a harmful product to the children who are her fans too. Meanwhile, Pepsi has denied targeting kids by working with the singer and has said that their advertisements are not directed to anyone below the age of 12 and that they have a history of responsible advertising and marketing practices.
