Bank holidays January 2023: Bank branches to be closed for up to 14 days in the first month of the year; check City-wise list

If you frequently use a bank, you should be aware of this information. In January 2023, banks will be closed for a total of 14 days, excluding weekends. You should review the list to ensure that using bank services won't cause you any trouble for the full month. Here's the complete list of banks' holidays.

While January 1 is a Sunday and hence a required day off for all banks, January 2 is designated by the RBI as New Year's Day under the Negotiable Instruments Act and is therefore a holiday in most bank offices.

According to the RBI schedule, bank branches in Imphal will also be closed in observance of Gaan-Ngai.

Every year on January 26, Republic Day is observed to commemorate the day the Indian Constitution went into effect following India's long and arduous struggle for independence. The day will cause all bank branches nationwide to be closed on January 26.

The bank will remain closed on January 5 on the account of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti in Haryana and Rajasthan, on January 11 on the account of Missionary Day in Mizoram, on January 23 in the observance of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Jayanti in Tripura, and West Bengal, on January 25 in Himachal Pradesh on the account of State Day, on January 31 in Assam in observance of Me-Dam-Me-Phi.

The bank will remain shut on January 1, 15, 22, and 29 due to Sunday.

Bank will remain closed on January 14 and January 28 on the occasion of the second and fourth Saturday, respectively.

Some regional bank branches may also be closed on January 13 in observance of Bogi, January 14 in observance of Makar Sakranti, January 15 in observance of Surya Pongal, January 16 in observance of Mattu Pongal, and January 17 in observance of Kaanum Pongal. Although these holidays have not been included in the RBI calendar.
