From Dishwasher To CEO, This Asian Billionaire Left Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Ratan Tata Behind In Wealth Creation

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has recently surpassed Mukesh Ambani on Forbes' real-time billionaire list, boasting a net worth of USD 119 billion. Huang's wealth has seen a remarkable 2,280 per cent increase over the last five years, positioning him as the leader of the world's most valuable chipmaker at age 61. Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of USD 116 billion.

Since co-founding Nvidia in 1993, Jensen Huang has led the company as CEO and president. Under his guidance, Nvidia’s market capitalization has skyrocketed by 177 per cent to a staggering USD 3.33 trillion. In 2019, Huang ranked 546th on the global wealth list with an estimated net worth of USD 5 billion. 

As of early 2024, Huang’s net worth was estimated at USD 77 billion by Forbes. However, the recent surge in Nvidia’s market cap has propelled him to a position just behind Steve Ballmer, former CEO of Microsoft.

He was born in Taiwan and raised in Oregon, Jensen Huang worked at Denny’s during the late 1970s and early 1980s, starting as a dishwasher and moving up to busboy and waiter. 

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, with a net worth of USD 84 billion, ranks 17th on the Forbes billionaire list. Gautam Adani is chairman of the $32 billion (revenue) Adani Group, with interests in ports, airports, power generation and transmission, and green energy, among others. 

Though not listed in the 2024 Forbes rankings, Ratan Tata’s net worth is estimated at INR 3,800 crores (USD 5.4 billion), placing him 421st among the richest Indians according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022. (Image Credit: Wikipedia)
