The polls were fought on the basis of the performance of state governments, said BJP leader Rajnath Singh, rejecting the notion that the results would be a reflection on the Modi government. He also pointed out the Congress-led grand alliance was heading to a "huge defeat" in Telangana, where the TRS appears set to retain to power with a big majority.

We are confident that the Congress will get a clear majority and will for its government in Rajasthan. Party MLAs and Congress president Rahul Gandhi will decide who will be the CM.

I am happy with the results as the BJP is losing. People of the state wanted to oust the Raman Singh-led government, which has been in office for 15 years.

We should wait till the final result but it is almost certain that Congress is coming to power in Rajasthan with full power. We won 21 seats last time but things have changed and how.  BJP troubled the people of Rajasthan and this result is an outcome of that. We all worked together, no one person can take credit for this result. I want to thank Rahul ji and also party workers.

- Sachin Pilot, Congress

People voted against BJP. This is the people's verdict and victory of the people of this country. Victory of democracy and victory against injustice, atrocities, destruction of institutions, misuse of agencies, no work for poor people, farmers, youth, Dalits, C, ST, OBC, minorities and general caste.
