COVID-19 unlock: Several states ease restrictions as cases dip, check complete list here

Several states and Union Territories have now begun easing the COVID-19 lockdown curbs which were imposed in mid-April, when the deadly second COVID wave hit the country.

The Delhi government on June 5 announced to further relax the lockdown restrictions in the national capital. Markets, malls and offices have been allowed to re-open from 5:00 AM after being shut for over one and half months. The Delhi Metro will also resume operations after train services were halted on May 10.  The curfew was however extended for one more week as the situation is still 'precarious', but the Delhi government allowed the re-opening of some more prohibited activities in a phased manner from Monday (June 7).

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday, said that the local administration can take a call on easing or tightening restrictions in their zones as the intensity of the pandemic varies across the state. Notably, Maharashtra is under lockdown till June 15. As per the new guidelines issued by the BMC, "Restaurants, shops selling non-essential items, and public places are set to reopen from Monday in Mumbai but malls, theatres, and multiplexes will continue to remain shut. The restaurants to operate at 50 per cent capacity for dining till 4 pm on weekdays."

The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday (June 6) lifted the corona curfew from all districts barring three. In the districts with more than 600 active COVID-19 cases, the restrictions will remain in place. Although, the night curfew and weekend curfew will continue to remain. “Uttar Pradesh lifts COVID-imposed curfew from all districts barring Meerut, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur as active cases in these three districts are above 600," ACS Information Navneet Sehgal said.

Arunachal Pradesh has imposed complete lockdown in Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Lower Subansiri, Lohit and Tawang districts and the Capital Complex Region till June 7. Meghalaya extended lockdown in the worst-affected East Khasi Hills district till June 7. Puducherry has imposed lockdown till June 7.

Kerala has extended lockdown till June 9 with some concessions. The Telangana Cabinet extended lockdown by another 10 days from Monday with relaxations from 6 AM to 1 PM every day.

Nagaland has extended the lockdown till June 11. Manipur government has imposed curfew in seven districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur till June 11.

The Haryana government extended the lockdown till June 14 as a preventive and precautionary measure though the COVID positivity rate and the number of new COVID positive cases have declined. The Sikkim government, while announcing the state-wide lockdown for one more week till June 14, also allowed relaxation for shops selling groceries and hardware. Tamil Nadu extended the lockdown by a week till June 14 with some easing of restrictions from Monday (June 7), except in 11 districts where the number of new cases reported was still high. Earlier, neighbouring Karnataka had extended the lockdown till June 14. Himachal Pradesh and Goa has extended the coronavirus curfew till June 14 with some relaxation.

West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Assam government have extended ongoing COVID-19 restrictions till June 15. Madhya Pradesh has extended corona curfew with eased restrictions till June 15. The state has announced separate unlock guidelines for districts.

Gujarat has extended night curfew in 36 cities of the state for a week from June 4, with further relaxation in timings. Jammu and Kashmir administration has eased restrictions but night curfew and weekend lockdown will remain. Chhattisgarh government has on May 31 extended lockdown till further orders. Odisha has extended lockdown till June 17.
