Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chennai and Kochi on Sunday and laid the foundation stones for several key projects. He handed over the Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A) to the Army in Chennai. The PM inaugurated India's first full-fledged international cruise terminal in Kerala, later in the day.

PM Modi lauded the Kochi Refinery in his address
In his address, he dedicated the The Propylene Derivatives Petrochemicals Complex of the Kochi Refinery and said it will help strengthen India's journey towards being Aatmanirbhar.

Praising the people of Kochi, the PM said "Kochi is a city of trade and commerce. The people of this city understand that time is of the essence. They also appreciate the importance of proper connectivity."

"This year’s Budget has devoted significant resources and schemes that will benefit Kerala. This includes the next phase of the Kochi Metro. This metro network has come up successfully and has set a good example of progressive work practices and professionalism," he said.

PM Modi started his address by thanking everyone and said, "From Chennai today, we begin key infrastructure projects.These projects are symbols of innovation and Indigenous development. These projects will further the growth of Tamil Nadu."

In his address he said that he envisions Tamil Nadu as an upcoming Tank manufacturing hub of India. "A tank made in Tamil Nadu will be used in our northern borders to keep the nation safe. This showcases India's united spirit – Bharat's Ekta Darshan," PM Modi said.
