From Rs 150 a Day to India's Leading YouTuber: Failed As Singer But Rose To Fame With His Unique Talent; Better Than Sholay's Two-Sided Coin

Before becoming the richest YouTuber in India, he earned a mere ₹150 a day while pursuing a singing career. Born as Bhuvan Avnindra Shankar Bam in Vadodara, Gujarat, he grew up in a middle-class family. Initially, his aspirations were centered on singing, not content creation. After earning a Bachelor's degree in History, he decided to dedicate himself to a singing career.

 

Bhuvan began performing at small cafes and restaurants in New Delhi, earning just ₹5,000 per month, which equates to slightly over ₹150 per day. Despite his passion, the meager income led him to abandon his dream of becoming a professional singer and explore content creation instead.

 

After quitting singing, Bhuvan posted his first parody video on YouTube, mocking a news reporter who insensitively questioned a woman about her son’s death during the Kashmir floods. The video went viral in Pakistan, prompting him to create his YouTube channel, BB Ki Vines, in June 2015.

 

Bhuvan’s YouTube channel features comedic skits where he plays multiple characters, such as Banchoddas, Sameer Fuddi, Titu Mama, Bablu, Janki, Papa Maakichu, and Detective Mangloo. Beyond skits, he created Titu Talks, a chat show where he interviewed celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, the cast of RRR (SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan), and Johnny Sins. Bhuvan also wrote and produced the popular web series Dhindora and more recently worked on Hotstar’s Taaza Khabar, which he also produced. You must have seen Sholay, the popular movie having a coin with same face on both sides. While the coin played a 'double-role', Bhuvan plays multiple roles in one video, surprising viewers with creativity.

 

Reports suggest Bhuvan’s net worth exceeds ₹122 crores, though he has disputed these claims in a podcast. He became the first Indian YouTuber to cross 10 million subscribers in 2018 and has since gained an enormous fanbase. Apart from YouTube, his income is bolstered by brand endorsements. Fans are eagerly awaiting the second season of Taaza Khabar, with the teaser recently going viral.
