As Long As Two Superfast Trains: World's Longest Railway Platform In India Is Enough For Morning Walkers

Hubli Railway Station, located in Karnataka, has set a new world record for the longest railway platform. This record-breaking achievement surpasses the previous title holder, Gorakhpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. 

The platform at Hubli Railway Station stretches an impressive 1507 meters, which is roughly one and a half kilometers long. This extensive length allows it to accommodate an entire train on the platform itself. 

The construction of the Hubli Railway Station's platform cost Rs 20.1 crores. However, when including the overall project development expenses, the total cost amounted to approximately ₹500 crores. 

The newly constructed platform was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2023, marking its official opening and recognition. 

Hubli Railway Station's platform length has earned it a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest railway platform in the world. 

Kollam Junction in Kerala ranks as the third-longest railway platform in India and the world, with a length of 1180.5 meters, showcasing the scale of railway infrastructure in India. 

Before Hubli took over the record, Gorakhpur Railway Station held the title of the longest railway platform with a length of 1,366.33 meters, demonstrating the significant achievement of Hubli's new record.
