Love and solidarity, sister. I started #MosqueMeToo because I want Muslim women to be aware, to alert them to be on the lookout. I hope your parents have a blessed and easy Haj ❤️✊🏽💜 https://t.co/ayYknxmygt

I am glad to see women are speaking out about being sexually harassed during Hajj. Several years ago, i shared my own experience with sexual assault during the pilgrimage (see following tweets) https://t.co/7A5CeJngEy h/t @jwildeboer #MeToo

I have shared my experience of being sexually assaulted during Haj in 1982 when I was 15 in the hope that it will help fellow Muslim women break silence and taboo around their experience of sexual harassment/abuse during Haj/Umra or in sacred spaces. Let’s use #MosqueMeToo https://t.co/uDsZFDolgX

the #MosqueMeToo shows once again that sexual harassment and assault has nothing to do with female modesty. It is not because of what a woman is wearing it is because of how men are taught to look at and think of women.

People are actually suggesting that men and women should be split in Mecca? How about the Muslim community should start addressing sexual assault and stop making it such a taboo topic & start teaching men to keep their hands & whatever else to themselves? #MosqueMeToo
