Mumbai: Speculations were rife that Haryana girl Manushi Chhillar, who won laurels for India by winning the Miss World 2017 crown a few days back, was all set to step into the world of films.
But is Manushi really planning to make a career in acting? Here’s the answer.
The 20-year-old Medical student wants to focus on her tenure as Miss World and then complete her studies.
During an interview with IANS, Manushi said, “My contestants did think that I was a Bollywood actor.
“As of now, I am excited about my journey as Miss World because this one year is going to be incredible. I have really not given Bollywood a thought, so lets see after one year when I get back to college because I have to complete my education as well,” she added.
For the uninitiated, Manushi had danced on ‘Nagada sang dhol’ song from Deepika Padukone starrer Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela – during the beauty pageant held in Sanya, China. And this made her co-contestants she is a Bollywood actress.
There was also a strong buzz suggesting that Manushi would be paired opposite Salman Khan in a film, but the beauty queen has put all rumours to rest by saying that she hasn’t really given acting a thought.
Manuishi is the sixth Indian after Reita Faria in 1943, followed which Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000) to win the crown for the country.
A number of beauty queens have joined film industry. Among them, Juhi Chawla, Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirza find a special mention.
Manushi, whose family belongs to Haryana and lives in the capital, is pursuing her MBBS degree from the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Khanpur Kalan village in Sonepat.
A gifted poet, painter and Kuchipudi dancer, Manushi wants to be a cardiac surgeon and has been associated in a project for menstrual hygiene among women. She feels that after becoming Miss World, the project will get more exposure.
"I am really happy that Miss World pageant takes keen interest in my projects. Now, I can actually expand and reach out to larger number of people," said Manushi, who also won the 'Miss Campus Princess' and 'Miss Haryana' title in less than one year.
