Sanjay Gadhvi feels pressure of `Dhoom` series

Mumbai: Director Sanjay Gadhvi, who shot to fame with ‘Dhoom’ series, says he felt the pressure of the franchise when he directed his subsequent project ‘Kidnap’.

Gadhvi made his directorial debut in 2000 with ‘Tere Liye’. But he achieved fame with ‘Dhoom’ (2004) and ‘Dhoom 2’ (2006). "I don`t have to keep making films in action genre. I want to make films to feel good, to have fun while making it and give the producer a big hit and also contribute to actor`s career," he said at a promotional event of his upcoming film ‘Ajab Gazab Love’. Though Gadhvi is not directing the third part of ‘Dhoom’ series, he feels the pressure of expectations. "I felt the pressure... Realised the power of `Dhoom` when I made `Kidnap`," he said. ‘Kidnap’ (2008) did not fare well at the Box Office. But the director says he does not look at box office collections or critics` ratings as a benchmark. "My producer should be happy... `Kidnap` was made on low budget. I wish people had liked it more," he said. ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’ is said to be a remake of Telugu film ‘Seema Tapakal’. "The film is a remake and producer Vashu Bhagnani has bought the rights. We have seen the film. We have kept the good things and added some more keeping in mind the Hindi film audience." The film stars Jackky Bhagnani and newcomer Nidhi Subbaiah, and releases on October 24. "It is a regular nice feel good film. There will be a boy and girl who fall in love. It`s a regular romantic comedy," he said. "I am working with newcomers... But it`s a plus compared to working with stars.
